Spaghetti alla Caprese

11 ounces spaghetti
2 tablespoons olive oil
6 ripe Italian plum tomatoes -- chopped
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 jar anchovies in olive oil -- drained
-- (2 oz)
4 tablespoons dry white wine
1/2 cup pitted black olives -- quartered lenghwise
1 can tuna in olive oil (7 oz) -- drained
1 package mozzarella cheese -- drained and diced
-- (4-1/2 oz)
salt
ground black pepper
fresh basil -- for garnish
Cook pasta according to instructions on the package.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a medium saucepan. Add the tomatoes, sugar, and pepper to taste, and toss over medium heat for a few minutes until the tomatoes soften and the juices run. Snip a few anchovies at a time into the pan of tomatoes with kitchen scissors.
Add the wine, tuna, and olives and stir once or twice until they are just evenly mixed into the sauce. Add the mozzarella and heat through without stirring. Taste and add salt if necessary. Drain the pasta and turn it into a warmed bowl. Pour the sauce over; toss gently and sprinkle with basil leaves. Serve immediately.
