    Baked Kafta

    Recipe By : Madelain Farab
    Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00
Categories : Beef, Lamb, Lebanese, Meats, Middle east

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 pound ground lamb or beef
    1 small onion -- chopped
    1/2 cup cracker crumbs
    1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    1/4 teaspoon pepper
    1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon allspice
    4 medium potatoes
    1 can tomato sauce
    3 cups water -- approximately

Thoroughly mix all of the ingredients except the potatoes, tomato sauce, and water. Form the mixture into hamburger patties about 1-inch thick. Place them next to each other in the bottom of a 9 x 12-inch pan. Peel and slice the potatoes to a thickness of 1/2 inch and place them over the meat. Mix the tomato sauce in about 3 cups of water and pour over the potatoes (potatoes are barely covered). Bake at 400 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
