Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1/3 cup olive oil (up to 1/2 cup)
juice of 1 lemon
1/2 cup red wine
1 teaspoon ketchup
2 garlic cloves -- minced
1/4 teaspoon barbecue seasoning
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1 bay leaf, crumbled
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
black pepper -- freshly ground
1 small onion -- finely chopped
In a small bowl or glass measuring cup, mix all the ingredients together. Pour the mixture over meat in a glass pan. Let stand a minimum of 4 hours (better yet all day).
If you want to use the marinade as a baste during grilling, make a fresh batch and throw out what the steak does not soak up during the marinating period.
Judi's notes: This is a delicious marinade and a recipe that we have used for more than 30 years.
