Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
    ***SESAME STREUSEL***
    2 tablespoons sesame seeds
    1/2 tablespoon butter -- softened
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    2 tablespoons flour
    ***FOR THE MUFFINS***
    2 cups all purpose flour
    3 tablespoons brown sugar
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/2 cup milk
    3 tablespoons honey
    1/4 cup canola oil
    1 egg
    1 teaspoon almond extract
3/4 cup ripe unpeeled pears -- chopped
1/2 tablespoon candied ginger -- chopped
    ***ALMOND GLAZE***
    1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
    1/2 tablespoon milk -- up to 3/4
    1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin pan or place liners in each cup.

Make streusel: in a small bowl, lightly combine sesame seeds, butter, brown sugar and flour to form streusel topping. Set aside.

Make muffins: in a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

In a mixing bowl, beat together milk, honey, oil, egg and almond extract. Stir into flour mixture. Mix in pears and ginger. Spoon batter into 12-cup nonstick muffin pan; sprinkle the top of each with sesame streusel. Bake in 375 degree oven for 17 to 20 minutes or golden brown. Remove muffins from pan after 5 minutes to cooling rack and let cool completely.

In a small bowl, combine all glaze ingredients, stirring until smooth. Drizzle over muffins as desired.
