Triple-Chocolate Custard Pie

1 cup chocolate syrup
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 choc. cookie pie crust
-- (9 inch)
chocolate whipped cream -- optional
mint leaves -- optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In small saucepan, stir together syrup, milk and sugar. Over low heat, cook and stir until mixture bubbles at edges. Set aside.
In medium bowl, beat eggs and vanilla until well blended. Stirring constantly, slowly add heated milk. Stir until well combined.
Pour filling into pie shell. Bake in preheated oven 40 to 45 minutes until knife inserted near center comes out clean.
Cool on wire rack. Serve warm, or chill thoroughly to serve cold. Garnish with whipped cream and mint leaves just before serving.
