Tartar Sauce
Source of Recipe
"Maine Classics", by Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier
1/2 cup red onion -- finely chopped
1/2 cup gherkins* -- chopped
2 cups mayonnaise
juice of 1 lemon
-- (about 2 tablespoons)
1 teaspoon black pepper -- freshly ground
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, mix well, and set aside.
*Note: A gherkin is a specific type of small pickle. If they are not available use any small pickle.
Makes enough for 6 servings
