This is my all time favorite cookie. Ginger snaps are fabulous with a tall glass of cold milk.
List of Ingredients
1/3 Cup Molasses
3 Tablespoons Shortening
1 Cup Flour
1/6 Teaspoon Soda
1 Teaspoon Ginger
1/2 Teaspoon SaltRecipe
Heat molasses to boiling point and pour over shortening. Add dry ingredients, mixed and sifted. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons flour if necessary. Chill thoroughly, roll on slightly floured board until 1/4 inch thick. Dip cutter in flour each time before cutting cookie, then place cookie on buttered baking sheet. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for about 8 minutes.
