    Recipe Introduction

These cookies are great all year long. When you want a special treat grab a glazed butter cookie and a cup of coffee.

    List of Ingredients

1/2 Cup Butter Softened (No Substitutes)
    3/4 Cup Sugar
    1 Egg
    3/4 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
    1 3/4 Cups All-Purpose Flour
    1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
    1/4 Teaspoon Salt
    GLAZE:
    1 Cup Confectioners' Sugar
    1 Tablespoon Milk
Red, Yellow And Green Liquid Or Paste Food Coloring

    Recipe

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Cover and chill for 1 hour or until easy to handle. On a lightly floured surface, roll out to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with 2 1/2 inch cookie cutters. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks. In a small bowl, combine confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Stir in food coloring. Create a glaze for each color. Lightly brush onto cooled cookies. Let stand until glaze is set, about 10 minutes. Yields about 3 dozen cookies.
