Herb Flavored Vegetable Soup

This vegetable soup is especially tasty with its great selection of herbs. This would be great on a cold wintery night.
List of Ingredients
1 Teaspoon Minced Savory
1/2 Teaspoon Dill Seeds
1/4 Teaspoon Minced Marjoram
2 1/2 Cups Stewed Tomatoes
1 Teaspoon Sugar
1 Garlic Clove, Crushed
2 Quarts Water
4 Cups Chopped Or Diced Vegetables
2/3 Cup Uncooked Long Grain Rice
Salt And PepperRecipe
Mix the herbs and add them to the tomatoes along with the sugar and garlic. Mix well, cover, and let stand in the refrigerator overnight. The next day, add the water and vegetables. Bring all to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer over very low heat for 3 hours. Add the rice and cook for 20 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Yields 8 to 10 cups.
