    Recipe Introduction

Beef stew is great for those cold winter days when you want something more substantial than soup. Try this recipe, it's great.

    List of Ingredients

2 Pounds Beef Stew Meat, In 1-Inch Cubes
    1/3 Cup Flour
    2 Tablespoons Fat
    1/8 Teaspoon Pepper
    1/2 Teaspoon Dried Leaf Thyme
    2 Cups Water
    2 Tablespoons Catsup
6 Medium Potatoes, Cut In 1-Inch Cubes
6 Medium Carrots, Cut In 1-Inch Cubes
    2 Medium Onions, Sliced

    Recipe

Roll meat cubes in flour to coat all sides. Use all the flour. Brown meat in fat in heavy skillet or dutch oven. Sprinkle salt, thyme and pepper over meat. Add water and catsup. Cover skillet with tight fitting lid and cook slowly over low heat 45 minutes. Stir in vegetables. Cover and continue cooking 30 minutes or until vegetables are just done. Yields 6 servings.
