    An English recipe.

    List of Ingredients




    14 oz. plain flour
    1 oz. melted butter
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. salt
    6 oz. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp baking soda
    3 oz. raisins or chopped walnuts
    6 oz. dried apricots (cut small and soak in a little water)
    Rind and juice of 1 orange - made up to two-thirds of cup of liquid with more juice or quosh

    Well grease 2 lb. loaf tin. Set oven to 350 degrees F or Mark 4. Sift dry ingredients into large bowl. Add raisins or nuts and apricots and mix well. Make a well in centre of mixture and add egg, butter and juice. Stir in. Place in tin and bake for 50-60 minutes. When cool, wrap and keep for 24 hours before using. May be eaten plain or slice with butter.
