Liana's Huckleberry Nut Bread

3/4 c dried huckleberries
3/4 c sugar
3 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c nuts -- coarsely chopped
rind of one lemon -- grated
1 egg -- lightly beaten
1 c milk
2 tsp melted butter
Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix in nuts and lemon rind. Lightly beat egg, milk, and butter and stir into flour mixture. Fold in huckleberries.
Spoon into buttered 9"x5"x3" loaf pan and bake at 350F for about one hour, or until loaf pulls from sides of pan and bread is springy to the touch. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then turn out on wire rack. Cool before slicing.
