-------- ------------ --------------------------------
8 peaches or nectarines
4 cups blueberries
1 orange
1 cup sugar
1 1/4 cups chopped walnuts
Peel, pit and finely chop peaches or nectarines. (Plunge in boiling water for about 30 seconds, then into cold water...peels will slip off easily.)
Mash or puree half the blueberries.
Finely chop the colored part only of the orange peel. (Use a zester, or peel with a sharp paring knife and chop.) Squeeze the juice from the orange.
In an 8-quart saucepan, combineall ingredients. Bring to a boil and simmer until the mixture is thick and the fruits are tender, at least a hlaf hour. Stir often.
Remove from the heat. Ladle into hot half-pint jars, leaving 1/4-inch headspace. Wipe rim and threads of jar . Apply two-piece lids. Process 10 minutes in a boiling water bath.
