Cole Family Bread Stuffing

Recipe Introduction
This is very similar to my version of the same stuffing. I learned it from your Grandma Mills (nee Cole).
List of Ingredients
- 3/4 cup margarine
- 1 1/2 cups chopped celery
- 3/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 9 cups soft bread cubes
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp ground sage
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
- 1/4 t pepper
Instructions
- Heat margarine in Dutch oven over medium high heat. Cook celery and onion in margarine about 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients.
Stuff in bird before roasting or bake in oven.
Final Comments
Variations:
o Substitute cornbread cubes for soft bread cubes.
o Cook 2 cups sliced mushrooms with the celery and onions.
o Cook 1 pound sage sausage with the celery and onions.
