    Happy Accident Candy

    Source of Recipe

    my own

    Recipe Introduction

This really was a happy accident - hence the name. I make the Sponge Monkey Candy for Christmas and always have a lot of crumbs and shards of it leftover after breaking it up. It is so good that I can't bear to throw it away and save to use in cookies or on ice cream or something. But I never end up using it. This year (2009) I had some leftover melted Cadbury milk chocolate from where I was dipping the sponge. There were some bits of sponge in the melted chocolate and I had an 'aha!' moment. It was kind of like the Reeses Cup commercial - "you got sponge crumbs in my chocolate". So I just went from there. They were delectable. No real amounts - just mix in the crushed shards until it looks good.

    List of Ingredients

Crumbs and shards leftover from making Sponge Monkey Candy
    Cadbury Milk Chocolate, melted

Approximate amounts are 1 1/2 cups crumbs to 14 oz. chocolate.

    Recipe

Crush the crumbs fairly small. Mix into the melted chocolate and scoop up small balls (a small ice cream-type server is good for this) and drop onto a parchment paper-lined sheet pan. Refrigerate to cool. Keep airtight.
