    Ma’s Martha Washington Candy

    Source of Recipe

    My great-grandmother Easterwood

    Recipe Introduction

I haven’t actually made this recipe yet, but it is in the pad of recipes that Grandma Jean convinced Ma to sit down and write out years ago. I want to try it sometime, but wanted it in here for posterity in the meantime. I won’t be using paraffin in my chocolate, though – I’m only willing to go so far for authenticity! If I can ever manage to temper chocolate, I’ll use that, but even plain melted chocolate would be better!

    List of Ingredients

    1/4 c. butter
    1 can sweetened condensed milk
    1 box 10X
    1 lb. chopped nuts
    1 can coconut
    1/4 lb. paraffin
    12 oz. milk chocolate

    Recipe

Melt butter and pour over nuts. Let stand. Meanwhile mix milk, sugar and coconut then add the nut mixture. Mix well and chill 2 hours.

Form into small balls and refrigerate overnight.

Melt paraffin and chocolate together and dip balls. Place on wax paper to dry.
