Caramel Apple Creme Brulee

Recipe Introduction
My husband, Mike says that this is possibly the best thing he has ever put in his mouth. I got the idea from a dessert that we had at Rivah Bistro in Richmond, VA. Very good, very rich - a true celebration dessert, but also very easy!
List of Ingredients
1 recipe "Ocean Blvd. Creme Brulee"
crisp apples - peeled, cored and sliced thin
cinnamon
nutmeg
ground ginger
ground cloves
butter, for coating the pan
prepared caramel sauce - I used the kind that is next to the apples in the store
Recipe
APPLE/CARAMEL LAYER: Use enough apple to layer the bottom of each ramekin - I used 2 apples for 4-10 oz. ramekins. Saute the apple slices in butter in a frying pan until just tender - not soft! Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves to taste. Place a layer of apples in each ramekin and top with some of the caramel sauce.
Proceed with recipe for creme brulee, as directed.
Makes 4-10 oz. ramekins.
