    Shortcut Cabbage Rolls Casserole

    4 c. shredded cabbage
    1 small onion, chopped
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. garlic salt or powder
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1 c. cooked rice
    1 (16 oz.) can sauerkraut (rinse and drain)
    1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
    2 c. water
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    2/4 tsp. salt

    Spread cabbage in 3 qt. (9x13) casserole. Mix onion, salt, pepper, meat and rice as for meatloaf. Break apart and arrange over cabbage. Spread sauerkraut over meat mixture. Mix tomato paste, water, sugar and salt. Pour over top. Cover with foil and bake in 300° oven for 1 1/2 hrs.
