Taco Casserole
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. Small onion, chopped
1 c. thick Picante Sauce
¾ c. water
4 oz. can diced green chilies
1 pkg. taco seasoning mix
12 crisp taco or tostada shells, broken and divided
2 c shredded mild cheddar cheese, divided
Garnish suggestions:
Chopped tomatoes, chopped green onions, sour cream, sliced jalapenos
Recipe
Preheat oven to 375° F. Grease 11 x 7-inch baking dish.
Cook beef and onion until beef is browned, drain. Stir in taco sauce, water, chilies and seasoning mix; cook over low heat about 3-4 minutes
Layer half of the broken taco shells into prepared baking dish. Cover with half of the meat mixture; sprinkle with 1 cup shredded cheese. Repeat with remaining shells and cheese. Bake 20-25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
Top with desired garnish and enjoy
