    Company Hamburger Pie


    List of Ingredients


    • 2 pound ground beef
    • 1/2 cup cornflake crumbs
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
    • 1 egg, slightly beaten
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
    • 3 cups water
    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2-2/3 cups instant mashed potato flakes, dry
    • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine


    Instructions


    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cornflakes, onion, garlic, egg, salt and pepper. Mix well with hands. Place beef mixture into a 9-inch pie pan and pat to cover bottom and sides evenly. Bake meat mixture at 425 degrees for 30 minutes, then drain off excess fat.
    2. Heat water, milk and salt just to a boil, then remove from heat. Add dry instant potato flakes and mix throughly with a wire wisk (depending on brand of instant potatoes used you may need to add more flakes for proper consistency). Add butter or margarine to the potatoes and mix well. Cover and allow to stand for 5 minutes or until potatoes thicken.
    3. Spread the potatoes evenly over meat mixture. Return the dish to the oven and bake until potatoes are golden brown. Allow the pie to rest for 10 minutes before cutting into wedges.
