Homemade Macaroni & Cheese
List of Ingredients
- 3 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 small onion, diced
- 3 Tablespoons flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1/2 pound Velveeta cubed
- Cooked macaroni
- 1 cup bread crumbs, optional
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large pan; add diced onions and cook until tender. Add flour and cook for 2-3 minutes longer. To the onion, flour mixture add all the milk at once and bring to a slow boil. Let cook for 5 minutes or until the mixture starts to thicken, be sure to stir occassionally to prevent sticking and burning. While that is cooking cube up the cheese.
- Place cooked noodles in a 9-in. x 13-in. baking dish and spread the cubed cheese over it. Pour the milk mixture over top and stir until all combined.
- Place pan in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Top with bread crumbs if desired the last 15 minutes.
