    Recipe Introduction


    This candy has been known to not turn out on occasion. Sometimes the butter separates. You can still proceed with the recipe. It will still taste good. I guess it depends on the humidity, etc.


    List of Ingredients




    1 lb. COLD butter
    2 cups sugar
    1 cup slivered almonds
    about 1/2 cup chopped almonds for topping
    1 (12 oz.) bag semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Recipe



    Put COLD butter, sugar and 1 cup slivered almonds in a saucepan. Cook over MEDIUM heat until it looks like the color of peanut butter ( Now get that jar of Jif out so you can compare!). Spread the candy in a jelly roll pan. Let this harden slightly then spread chips over the candy ( I melt them in the microwave first). Sprinkle the remaining chopped almonds.
