There is a little note attached to this that says it is advisable to make late in the summer as it has a tendency to discolor during a brewing process in the event of a thunder storm
List of Ingredients
18 beets
3 gallons water
3 C raisins
9 pounds sugar
2 slices toasted bread
1 cake compressed yeast
Recipe
Scrub beats and cut off both ends. Cut into quarters. Boil 2 hours in water, strain well. put into crock and add raisins and sugar. Smear the yeast onto the toast and place yeast side down in crock. Let set 9 days. Does not ferment as other wines do. Strain well and put into jugs. Leave covered with cheese cloth 14 days. Cork and store.
