1 12 ounce package cranberries (about 4 cups)
2 1/2 C vodka or light rum
2 C granulated sugar
strips of orange peel(orange part only) from 1 small orange
Recipe
Rinse berries well. Discard any stems or bruised berries. Coarsely chop berries and place in a clean jar with vodka, sugar and peel. Cover and store in a dark place 3 months. Shake and turn jar about every week to help dissolve the sugar.
Strain carefully and bottle with tight fitting cap or cork. Allow to age at least 1 month longer before using.
