    List of Ingredients


    • 3 C water
    • 1 1/2 C firmly packed brown sugar
    • 1 C granulated sugar
    • 1 8-inch vanilla bean, split lengthwise
    • 1 quart light rum


    Instructions


    1. In a medium saucepan combine all but the rum. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes, stirring until sugar dissolves. Cool

    2. Pour into an 8 cup (2 quart) jar with a tight fitting lid. Stir in rum, cover.Let stand at least 2 weeks at room temperature before serving.
