- 3 C water
- 1 1/2 C firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 C granulated sugar
- 1 8-inch vanilla bean, split lengthwise
- 1 quart light rum
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan combine all but the rum. Bring to a boil for 5 minutes, stirring until sugar dissolves. Cool
- Pour into an 8 cup (2 quart) jar with a tight fitting lid. Stir in rum, cover.Let stand at least 2 weeks at room temperature before serving.
