    BISCUITS, ANGEL

    Makes two dozen.

    List of Ingredients

    2 pkg yeast
    2 T sugar
    3 T warm water
    5 C flour
    1 tsp baking soda
    3 tsp baking powder
    1-1/2 tsp salt
    1 C shortening
    2 C slightly warm buttermilk
    melted butter

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to four hundred degrees.
    Dissolve two yeast and two tablespoons sugar in the three tablespoons warm water. Blend the five cups flour, one teaspoon baking soda, tree teaspoons baking powder and one and one half teaspoons salt. Cut in the one cup shortening. Add the two cups buttermilk and the yeast mixture. Stir to blend completely. Knead on lightly floured board until smooth. Roll out and cut with a biscuit cutter. Let stand on ungreased baking sheet for one hour. Brush with melted butter. Bake at four hundred degrees for twelve to fifteen minutes.
