List of Ingredients

1 C sugar
1/2 C shortening
2 C flour
1 tsp soda
pinch salt
1 tsp allspice
1 C unsweetened applesauce
1 C chopped dates
1 tsp cinnamon


Recipe

Cream Sugar and shortening; Dissolve soda in apple sauce and add to butter and sugar. Sift spice and salt with flour. Reserve a little flour in which to roll dates. Combine mixture and bake in a loaf in moderate oven 30-40 minutes.
