    List of Ingredients


    • 1 C butter
    • 1 1/2 C sugar
    • 4 egg yolks
    • 1/2 C cornstarch
    • 1 1/2 C all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 tsp baking soda
    • 1 tsp cream of tartar
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 C milk
    • 1 tsp vanilla or lemon extract
    • 4 egg whites


    Instructions


    1. Cream butter, cream in sugar a little at a time. Beat in egg yolks one at a time. Sift together dry ingredients several times. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk and extract. Beat egg whites until just stiff. Fold into cake batter. bake in a greased and floured loaf pan, for 40-50 minutes. (or use a 10x10 sheet pan. Serve unfrosted.
