Old Fashioned Butter Crunch

Makes 1 pound.
List of Ingredients
2 C finely chopped almonds
1 C butter
1 1/4 C sugar
2 T light corn syrup
2 T water
1 12 oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate pieces, meltedRecipe
Spread almonds in shallow pan. Toast at 350 degrees F. until golden.
Melt butter in a large heavy saucepan and add sugar, syrup and water. Cook stirring often to a hard crack stage (300 degrees). Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup toasted almonds. Pour quickly in a 13x9x2 inch pan. Cool completely. When set turn out on waxed paper. Spread half the melted chocolate on top and sprinkle with 1/2 cup of almonds. Let set. Turn candy over and spread with remaining chocolate, sprinkle with remaining almonds. Let stand until chocolate sets. Break into pieces.
