    Ketchup-Gooseberry Catsup

    List of Ingredients

    3 quarts gooseberries
    hot water
    5 C sugar
    1/2 tsp nutmeg
    1 1/2 tsp ground cloves
    1 tsp cinnamon
    2 C vinegar

    Recipe

    Scald berries with hot water. Drain. Push through a fine wire strainer to remove seeds and skins. Place in a large kettle. Add sugar, stirring. Add spices. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring constantly. Boil 15 minutes. Remove from heat and add vinegar. Pour into 3 hot, sterilized pint jars. Process 10-15 minutes.
