    Makes about 5 pints.

    List of Ingredients




    4 pounds Granny Smith apples
    1 C water
    1 C apple cider
    brown sugar
    2 tsp cinnamon
    1 tsp ground cloves
    1/2 tsp allspice
    2 lemons

    Recipe



    Peel, quarter and core apples. Cook the apples and cider until soft. Pass through a food mill.
    Add 1/2 cup brown sugar for each cup of puree. Add the spices.
    Grate the lemon rind, and juice the lemons. add them to the pot. Cook over very low heat until thick and dark in color. (3-4 hours or more).
    Keeps 1-2 weeks in fridge, otherwise can in sterilized 1/2-1 pint jars for 10 minutes.
