1 1/4 c butter
2 1/2 c sifted flour
1/4 c sugar
1/4 pound (3/4 C) unblanched almonds, ground
1/2 tsp vanilla
Recipe
Add butter to flour. Work the dough with the fingers. Add sugar, ground almonds and vanilla. Knead well. roll into 1 inch diameter rolls.Cut off pieces about 2 inches long and shape into crescents or form into balls the size of walnuts. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 325 degrees about 20 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar while still warm. Decorate with toasted almonds or small red cinnamon candies.
