- 1 1/2 C skim milk powder
- 3 3/4 C water
- 2 T plain yogurt for starter
Instructions
- Combine powdered milk and water. Add starter and mix thoroughly.
- Strain into glass,crockery, or stainless bowl. Cover with dry dish towel and wrap bowl in a blanket. keep warm, ninety degrees F, overnight.If you have an oven with a pilot light, ideal.
- Next morning blot with paper towels to remove liquid from top.
- Remove 2 tablespoon and store in a jar for next starter. Place the yogurt in pint or half pint jars. keep refidgerated. will keep well for one week.
- Yogurt cheese: use in place of cream cheese. Put yogurt in cheesecloth lined strainer. don't squeeze it.Leave to drip overnight into a bowl, in fridge. semi-soft curd like cheese. Good for salads, dips or desserts.
