    List of Ingredients




    Dough;
    2 C flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/4 C sugar
    1/2 cake yeast
    1/2 C milk
    2 eggs, well beaten

    Filling;
    1/2 C soft butter
    1/4 C brown sugar
    1/2 tsp cardamom
    1/4 tsp almond extract
    Raisins and citron or prunes or apple sauce

    Recipe



    Soften the yeast in lukewarm milk. Add beaten eggs then beat in the remainder of the dough ingredients. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled. Knead on floured board and shape into a long, thin oblong shape about 1/2 inch thick. A little flour may be added to make it easier to handle. However, dough must be very soft. Spread with butter and place filling of your choice down the center. Fold the long side edges over until they just meet, leaving a little filling exposed. Let rise in warm place for 25 minutes. Bake at 375 degrees F.
