    List of Ingredients




    * 1 cups unsalted butter, softened
    * 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
    * 1 cups rich milk, scalded
    * 2/3 cup white sugar
    * 2 teaspoons salt
    * 2 cakes compressed yeast
    * 1 1/2 C sour cream
    * 7 cups all-purpose flour
    * 4 eggs
    * 1 teaspoon almond extract

    Add sugar to eggs and beat well. Melt butter in milk and when lukewarm combine with egg mixture. Dissolve yeast in sour cream. Combine all ingredients and beat thoroughly. Chill overnight.
    5. To make danishes, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thickness and spread with melted butter . The dough can be cut into squares, with a filling placed in the center. Fold 2 of the corners over the center to form a filled diamond shape, or fold in all 4 corners over fruit or jam, or fold the piece in half, cut into 1 inch strips, stretch, twist and roll into a spiral. Place a dollop of preserves or other filling in the center. Place danishes on an ungreased baking sheet, and let rise 3 hours, until doubled. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. they can be brushed with egg white for a shiny finish.
    6. Bake for 15 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the bottoms are golden brown.
    remove from oven and cool slightly. Glaze with powdered sugar icing, flavored as desired. (optional).
