    Anchovie cakes

    Melt 2 ounces butter and mix with one cupful of dry breadcrumbs. Bone and chop up a dozen anchovies, or failing this, add two dessertspoons of anchovie paste. Add two eggs to a teacupful [5 0z] of milk and a pinch of sugar and stir this well with the crumbs and anchovies. Pour the mixture into greased patty pans and bake in a warm oven for twenty minutes. Turn out and serve.
