- 2 C milk
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 C sugar (for caramel)
- 1/3 C sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Place the half cup sugar in a small, deep, heavy saucepan, which can go in the oven. Brown the sugar and coat sides of pan by tipping and rolling pan. As sugar melts and caramelizes.
- Whip eggs, milk, one third cup sugar, vanilla and salt until foamy. Pour it into the saucepan, being careful not to disturb the caramel.
- Bake in a bain=marie with water one half inch up the side of pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
- Cool and invert onto a plate.
