    Swans Down Cake Flour-1928

    Recipe Introduction


    Use in angel food cake.

    List of Ingredients




    2 T gelatin
    1/4 C cold water
    2 C milk, scalded
    1/4 tsp salt
    3 egg yolks, beaten until thick and lemon colored
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 C heavy cream, whipped
    1 Angel Food Cake baked in an ungreased loaf pan (6x10x3 1/2)
    Pecans, cut lengthwise in thin slices
    Maraschino cherries, sliced

    Recipe



    Dissolve gelatin in water. add milk, salt and sugar. Pour mixture on egg yolks, stirring constantly. Cook in a double boiler 10 minutes. Remove from fire and cool. When mixture is slightly thickened, add vanilla, and fold in cream. Allow to stiffen. Split angel food cake in half. Spread filling between layers and on top and sides of cake. Cover with pecans and cherries.
