Brake fern; Rhizome Bake or roast in ashes, peel and eat center.
Deer fern; Leaves to prevent thirst. rhizome raw or cooked.
Licorice fern; Rhizome, juice for cough and dandruff. You can chew it for flavor, in moderation as it is a purgative.
Maidenhair; Rhizomes, cooked.
Sword fern; Fiddle heads.
Wood fern; Rhizomes, cooked.
