    Pohas are also known as cape gooseberry. (actually a close relative).

    List of Ingredients




    1 1/2 C diced pohas
    3 C diced, fresh or canned pineapple
    1/4 C lemon juice
    1/2 C pineapple juice or sirup
    1/4 C sugar

    Recipe



    Prepare fruit. Mix fruit juice with sugar, pour over fruit, chill 1 hour. Serve in cocktail or sherbet glasses. Serves 6.
    The poha is the ground cherry of Brazil, somewhat larger than the ground cherry native to the United States. It is now imported in small quantities on the west coast. native ground cherries may be substituted for the pohas. [this was written in 1939].
