    Meatloaf, Italian Style

    List of Ingredients

    3/4 C sour milk
    2/3 C oatmeal
    1/3 of an onion, chopped
    1/2 large stalk celery
    2 cloves garlic
    1 tsp salt
    1/3 tsp pepper
    1/2 tsp marjoram
    1/2 tsp thyme
    1/4 tsp allspice
    6 T chopped Italian flat leaf parsley
    6 T grated pecorino-romano cheese
    1 tsp horseradish
    1 pound ground beef
    1/2 pound bulk Italian sweet sausage
    1 egg

    Recipe

    Soak the oatmeal in the sour milk with the spices for 4 hours.
    Saute the chopped onion, chopped celery and pressed garlic. Combine all and put into meatloaf pan (with drain holes for grease, set inside another pan of the same size).
    Bake at 350 degrees F. for 1 hour. (check the loaf twice during cooking as you may need to drain the bottom pan of grease.
    Make a topping of 8 ounces tomato sauce, 1/2 tsp marjoram and 1/2 tsp oregano.You can sprinkle with more grated cheese if desired
    Add topping and bake another half hour.
