    False Solomans Seal

    Source of Recipe

    Unknown

    Recipe Introduction

Treacleberry, Solomans plume. Not to be confused with Hellebore. Reclines at a 30 degree angle. Harvest only if abundant.

    List of Ingredients

Eat the reddish to dark blue berry sparingly. (purgative)
Root: peel and soak in a lye solution made from 1/2 cup ash lye to 1 gallon water for 24 hours to remove bitterness. [ I don't recommend the ash. I haven't tried this yet but a solution of slacked lime, as for making hominy might work as well). Parboil to remove the lye, or several rinses in water for lime. serve as vegetable, or pickle it.
    Young shoots as pot herb.
Older stems act as a laxative.
