    Source of Recipe

    Unknown

    Recipe Introduction

More than 100 species. Flowers are white, pink or red. I have seen golden-orange in Colorado.

    List of Ingredients

Rose hips can be eaten raw or cooked, and are high in vitamin C. Remove hairy seeds and use the outer shell jams, jellies, or for wine. (add to other fruits for wine). Frost improves the flavor.
The seeds contain vitamin E. Grind or boil, strain and use as syrup. Seeds of some species are prickly and should not be eaten whole.
    Young shoots, peel and eat.
    Leaves for tea.
Crush or grind the hips for flour.
