List of Ingredients
cucumbers, for 1 gallon of pickles
1 quart water
1/2 cup salt
1 pint vinegar
2 large heads of dill
1 small red pepper pod
2 cloves of garlic
Grape or horseradish leaves
Recipe
Combine all ingredients and bring to boil. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Pour over fresh washed cucumbers packed in jars. To each quart jar add 2 large heads of dill, broken and scattered through the jar, 1 small red pepper pod and 2 cloves of garlic. Cover top of each jar with grape or horseradish leaves. Seal at once. These are ready to use in 6 or 8 weeks. This is sufficient liquid for 1 gallon of pickles.
