    Mormon Split Pea Soup

    2 C (1 lb) dry split peas
    8 C cold water
    1 C chopped onion
    1 C chopped celery
    2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp dried marjoram
    1/4 tsp pepper
    1 pound ground pork
    3/4 tsp salt
    1/8 tsp pepper
    3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced (3 C)

    Recipe



    Combine peas, water, onion, celery, 2 teaspoon salt, Marjoram and 1/4 teaspoon pepper. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer about 1 hour, until peas are tender.
    Meanwhile combine the pork with the salt and pepper remaining. Shape into 24 little balls. Drop balls and potatoes into soup. Return soup to a boil. Cover and simmer 20 minutes.
