Apple Roll

Bake 4 large apples and when done pass through a sieve and sweeten the pulp to taste. Cream one egg with 4 ounces of butter and a teaspoon of sugar. Sieve 8 ounces of flour with 3 teaspoons of baking powder and gradually work this into the egg and butter mixture. Work the dough on a board and roll out into a long piece about an inch thick. Spread evenly with the sieved apple. Roll up and bend in the shape of a horseshoe and bake in a moderate oven. Cut into slices and serve with thin custard or top milk.
