If you can't find sago pearls use small tapioca pearls.
Top milk can be substituted with half and half, or cream if you like.
Put three pints of meat stock in a sauce pan and bring to a boil. When boiling, sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of small sago and continue boiling until the sago is transparent and cooked. Season the soup with pepper and salt. Combine 1 cup top milk with 1 egg and invert the hot soup into it, slowly so as not to curdle the egg, stirring constantly. Serve at once, without bringing to the boil again.
