    Kaldomar-(Stuffed cabbage leaves)

    List of Ingredients

    1/ C rice
    1 cup milk
    3 or 3 1/2 lb head savoy cabbage
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1 egg, beaten
    1 teaspoon salt,
    1/8 teaspoon pepper
    2 tablespoon butter
    1 pint stock

    Recipe

    Add rice to milk; boil gently until almost done. Cool. Carefully loosen each leaf from cabbage; trim central vein off leaf for ease in rolling. Bring pan of salted water to a boil, add baking soda. Boil cabbage leaves for a couple of minutes; drain and set aside. To cooled rice mixture, add egg, ground beef and seasonings. Spoon 1 tablespoon of meat mixture on each cabbage leaf; roll tightly and fasten with string. Brown on all sides in butter. Add stock and simmer 1 hour.
    Take them out carefully with a slice [spatula ?], remove the strings and lay them on a hot dish. pour a cupful of top milk
    [half and half] into the pan and mix well with the stock that remains, Strain and pour round the kaldolmar.
    6 servings.
