Pancake Pudding with Milk

Chop up any leftover meat and heat up in some thick gravy, seasoning carefully. Prepare a batter in the ordinary way and make some thin pancakes [Crepe-like], frying them on one side only. Place one pancake with the unfried side upwards in a fireproof round dish. Cover with some of the meat mixture and put another pancake on top, with the fried side uppermost. Fill the dish in this manner with layers of pancake with meat in between. Mix 2 eggs with 2 cupfuls of milk, salt and pepper and pour this over the pancakes. Place the dish in a warm oven until the custard is set and golden brown. Serve with gravy or a little melted butter.
