    Take a small saucepan and put into it 2 tablespoons of treacle or golden syrup. , one dessertspoon of cream, two tablespoons of butter, one and one half ounces of sugar, half a tablespoon of cinnamon, a teaspoon of allspice and a teaspoon of ground ginger. Bring this mixture to a boil, stirring all the time, and after a few minutes simmering, set aside to cool.
    Sieve a pound of flour into a bowl with a teaspoon of baking soda and then add the other ingredients and one beaten egg. Work the dough well with the hands and set aside until the next day. Now roll thinly, and with a pastry cutter or a plain tumbler cut out little cakes and bake in a warm oven for about 15 minutes.
